Last week, Virginia Rose shared her experiences of birding in a wheelchair with members of the American Bird Conservancy (ABC) and encouraged people with mobility challenges to get out into nature. Virginia and the co-host Freya had a great rapport – their conversation was funny as well as insightful. The speakers offered valuable advice for how birders and park visitors who don’t have mobility challenges can be supportive without being intrusive.
If you want to re-watch the conversation or share it with friends, you can view the recording below:
Here are some of the excellent resources that Freya and Virginia shared during the webinar:
- Access Considerations for Birding Locations
- Adaptive Birding Equipment
- Inclusive Communication and Language Use Tips
- Writing Bird Outing Event Descriptions
We, along with ABC, believe that birding is for everyone. ABC has partnered with Birdability to bring this webinar series to you. You can learn more about ABC’s work to advance justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion here.
