This puzzle is a word search with a hidden message.

First read the paragraph below. The words IN CAPITAL LETTERS IN RED are included in the word search below the paragraph. Take your time finding all of those words. Words can go in any direction and can share letters as well as cross over each other.

Once you’ve found all the words, copy the unused letters (starting in the top left corner) into the blanks to reveal the hidden message.

Bird paragraph:

In a bird NEST, very HUNGRY babies hatch from eggs. Often throughout the day, mama and papa bird feed each chick a CATERPILLAR so the chicks will grow. Caterpillars are nice soft baby food for birds! Soon the chicks will be old enough to learn to FLY. A bird learning to fly is called a FLEDGLING. We also have a special word for humans learning to move far without help, by using a car to drive—teenager. So a “fledgling” is a bird teenager. Some birds you can find in Pennsylvania, with nests full of babies, have these names:

Remember that you should never touch a nest or bother baby birds. They need peace and quiet to grow up healthy!
